Vince Hokkanen

Sr. Pastor

Vince and Darcy are both graduates of the University of Northwestern, Vince completed his Pastoral Degree there and Darcy completed her degrees in Christian Education, Youth Ministries and Psychology. After Northwestern, Vince went on to complete his Masters Degree at Bethel Seminary. Darcy is the daughter of a pastor and told God she would never marry a pastor.  But God had different plans and now they are celebrating over 23 years of marriage and two children Kaleb and Addyson.

When Vince and Darcy are not serving at church, Vince is a Transition Assistance Advisor serving our veterans and Darcy is a Program Coordinator at Anoka County serving families and youth.

Vince just recently retired from his service in the United States Army. He retired as a Major and was blessed to be able to serve as a Chaplain to our soldiers as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq and Kuwait in 2010. Although he carries wounds from his service, he counts it a blessing to have served and uses his journey to help others.

Vince has been a pastor for over  28 years. Vince and Darcy serve wherever needed at church. You can find Darcy typing the bulletin, setting up the sanctuary or sanitizing the toys for the nursery. Because the church is renting the Bunker Activity Center the entire family becomes a moving crew setting up and taking down each week! Vince loves to preach and mentor people in their relationship with the Lord. In addition to his paid job at church, he has the JOY of playing the drums each Sunday as part of the worship band.

Christian Zelin

worship leader

Christian and Kristin have been serving the Lord their entire marriage!  Ministry is in the heart of all they do. Christian uses his God given musical abilities to lead our worship team and bring our congregation into the presence of the Lord every Sunday. His beautiful wife Kristin, enjoys singing on the worship team and occasionally treats us to a solo performance!  With their children, Abigail, Annabelle, Adelynn and Abrielle they fill our church with laughter, praise and a love for the Lord.  During the week Christian is a carpenter and Kristin is a teacher at Legacy Christian Academy.  We are thankful that the Lord has called them to Generations to serve!

Andy Geppert

sound & media

Andy has been working with our sound system since the church started. We are beyond blessed to have him and his technical abilities as part of Generations. He organizes the microphones, speakers and sound board and sets up the camera which is no small task when you need to set up and pack up each Sunday. Each Sunday he is in the back with his headphones on and camera rolling making sure we can provide the best service possible to honor our Lord in the worship service. Often you will see both of his sons, Kevin and Jared at his side helping him set up and get things ready. Andy records each service and most recently has implemented our live streaming and balances the sound of the worship team each week. He and his wife Kristen are always ready to serve any way they can.

Devon and Mati Johnson

Children's Leaders

Devon and Mati Johnson are the perfect team to be leading our Children’s Programs. On Sundays they oversee the “Next Gen”class for our youngest children ages birth to 6 and they also oversee our 7 to 11 Club. The 7 – 11 Club is a great opportunity for our children to earn prizes for learning scripture, bringing their Bibles and taking notes during the sermon. Having our children join everyone for worship is an important foundation of our church – We want all Generations to worship and learn about the Lord!! Devon also enjoys teaching our younger children on Wednesday nights as we meet for mid-week Bible Study and Fellowship.

We are blessed to have Devon leading these ministries. She earned her Elementary Education Bachelors Degree from the University of Northwestern and her Masters Degree in Special Education from Bethel. She has had over 37 years of teaching experience in our surrounding school districts and a lifetime of experience teaching all ages at church. Her daughter Matilyn Johnson has just started her college career at the University of Northwestern. The Lord has blessed her with beautiful artistic skills that will continue to grow as she completes her education in the Arts program at UNW.

Ben Johnson

Musician

Ben has been playing the trumpet for over 11 years. He blesses the congregation with his God-given gift every Sunday as part of the worship team. Currently Ben is a senior at the University of Northwestern and will be graduating with a B.M.E. in Music Education in 2022. His plans are to become a high school music teacher/band director in the years to come.  He also enjoys teaching music lessons!
